As we are into the third week of the new circuit visit arrangement, I was wondering if any had experienced it yet and whether there are any changes. What is done with the spare evening? Anyone tried to get an appointment through with the c/o doing the appointing? I've got a visit coming up soon, though our c/o was removed recently so nobody seems to know what's going on anyway (snafu). I'll let you know if I see anything interesting. I've heard they are reviewing cong teaching at the bs (and isn't that abreviation perfect) during the first visit where the bs isn't happening. jw.org logic at it's best.

Sept 1 service meeting mystery revealed
by Saltheart Foamfollower inthe letter has appeared at last - just for uk.
it is a money grab for the new bethel which has been approved.
there is a video to be shown - just watched it - brief summary of uk bethels, why current one is too small, why we need money to build a new one.

Another aspect of this is that congs have been given very little notice (next tues for many) that they will need to be able to show a video to the cong. COs have shown videos recently but bring their own equipment. They don't care about the expense and difficulty that this will cause many (who of course will say that they are "happy" to do it for the org)
factfinder - I've saved a copy of the video but I don't know how to convert it or post it without it being traced back to me. Maybe after it's been shown?

The message in the video is that they want to count the cost to see if they can afford to build. My thinking is that either I put zero and if others do the same, they'll not be able to build. Or I put a large figure which they wont get and they'll keep badgering the congs. As long as enough of us agree to do the same thing, it should cause some disruption.

Hi all. The letter has appeared at last - just for UK. It is a money grab for the new Bethel which has been approved. There is a video to be shown - just watched it - brief summary of UK bethels, why current one is too small, why we need money to build a new one. This will be followed by a letter being read asking for slips to be filled in to show how much extra everyone will donate. My question is - do I fill in zero or a large sum? I will of course be sending nothing, I just wondered which would cause the most disruption if we all did the same.
BTW Stephen Hardy looks v uncomfortable in the video.

Service Meeting Adjustment w/c 1st September
by konceptual99 inprobably nothing of major note but there is an adjustment to the service meeting of w/c 1st september to allow for a 15 min local needs the society have asked the elders to deliver.
this is in uk and i've no idea if it affects other regions.. if it's uk only then i suspect it's either specifically about donations or more likely the status of the new branch facility, asking for volunteers/money.
given that the elder delivering it in our hall is prominent on the local rbc then i suspect the latter.. .

I've heard talk for the last couple of years that new congregations aren't being registered as charities. Maybe all are going to de-register because I think that the money grab probably violates the constitutions of the congregations. This only applies to congs in England (& Wales?) - any in scotland who can say whether they have the change to the meeting as well? If it is this, they probably have to act fast to avoid legal problems. It seems strange to me that they would alter what is supposed to be a special month of service meetings unless they had to. Especially as we're already losing one week due to the conventions.

Today's Watchtower study. Good example of "talk is cheap."

Was it just me or did the opening image appear to show the samaritan holding the injured man by the crotch. If nothing else, it looked like a very strange way to hold someone. Do they still get people to pose for pictures then do drawings of them?

Is this the big change?
by Saltheart Foamfollower inamong all of the other changes recently, there have been broad hints that the biggest change(s) are yet to come.
an instruction has appeared on the elders only part of jw.org to set aside 15 minutes on the sept 1 service meeting with further details to follow.
of course it could just be another load of hot air, but it seems a strange thing to do after making a fuss about all of the service meeting parts this month being focussed on the kingdom (all of the parts for wb sept 1 have material - no local needs get out) when i hear more i'll post details..

Just checked again - it is for the attention of the coordinator, so might not be available to all. I'm in the UK.

The only way to see it is to log on as an elder then it is under the congregation tab. Just appeared today.

Circuit Overseer cutbacks?
by Saltheart Foamfollower init was announced at our meeting tonight that our co (who is actually a pretty good sort) and his wife have been reassigned as regular pioneers.
they are both relatively young (50s) and have been used extensively by the society recently.
as far as i know there are no personal issues.

Here is an update to my original posting. There are rumours (from reliable sources) going round that about 20 COs have been "reassigned". I should have mentioned that I'm in the UK. I wonder if the GB member visiting here has anything to do with it.
Just to clarify when I said our co was a pretty good sort I meant that he takes an interest in people, gives lively talks and doesn't have weird food requirements. He is still a company man through and through and has been used a lot by the society. Him and his wife are now looking for somewhere to live - I think they have had offers of temporary lodgings.
